Description

In Mauritania, livestock is the main economic activity of the rural sector. Its contribution to the formation of gross domestic product is estimated at 15% and it accounts for the largest share of the rural sector's contribution to GDP at 68%. The livestock sector employs more than 70% of the population. Aware of the importance of livestock production, the Government has implemented a Pathway Management and Livestock Development project (PADEL).
