The Kandadji Program appears in the Niger Basin Sustainable Development Action Plan. It was developed as part of the Shared Vision adopted in 2007 by the Council of Ministers of the Niger Basin Authority (ABN) as a strategic framework for the development of the Niger Basin. The objective of the Kandadji Program is to increase access to water resources for agricultural development, hydroelectric power generation capacity in the Nigerian part of the Niger Basin and to contribute to the reduction of seasonal variability of flow downstream from Kandadji to the borders of Benin and Nigeria.
